McDonald's says to leave Russian market, starts sale of business
MOSCOW, May 16 (PRIME) -- McDonald's has decided to leave the Russian market and started the sale of its business in the country, the company said in a statement on Monday.
"After more than 30 years of work in the country, corporation McDonald's is announcing its exit from the Russian market and has initiated a process of the sale of its Russian business," the company said.
The company plans to sell the business to a local buyer, the restaurants will not be able to use its brand and menu. At the same time, the company plans to retain its trade marks in Russia.
McDonald's has more than 800 restaurants in Russia and employs about 62,000 people. All the restaurants have been temporarily closed since March 14.
